7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Renville County Historical Society and Museum

Renee Wendinger is from Minnesota and is the youngest of five children. Her mother, orphan train rider Sophia (Kaminsky) Hillesheim, was a part of the phenomenal journey from New York City to the Midwest.  Inspired by her mother to reveal the factual story of the children of the orphan trains, her books, Extra! Extra! The Orphan Trains and Newsboys of New York and Last Train Home: An Orphan Train Story, embrace the compelling stories of the people who made history aboard the orphan trains of New York.

Renville County had orphan trains that were along 212. Several Renville County families adopted children off the train. Come attend Renee’s presentation on June 30, 2022 at 7 PM on the Museum Grounds in Morton, Minnesota. Free Will Donations plus a non-perishable food item or like item for the Renville County Food Shelf. In 2019, RCHS donated over 600 pounds of non-perishable foods, paper products, and cleaning products to the food shelf. Refreshments served.
