Open 8 AM – 4:30 PM Monday – Friday (Closed weekends & Federal Holidays)
On exhibit now through May 2024 is the Traveling World War I Exhibit created by the partnerships of the West Central Minnesota Historical Association (WCMHA).

WCMHA is a collaboration of 10 west central counties: Big Stone, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Redwood, Renville, Swift, and Yellow Medicine.

This exhibit demonstrated the relevance of local history by showcasing the local stories in the greater context of World War I history. The exhibit was created to help our communities understand how West Central Minnesota had an important role in such a large event in the nation and the world’s history. Visitors to the exhibit go home with a sense of how their own history fits into a larger picture and with a more in-depth understanding of World War I history.

The exhibit has traveled throughout the 10 counties over the past five years.

The exhibit was the recipient of two prestigious awards, one from the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums and one from the American Association for State and Local History.

The traveling exhibit was financed in part with funds provided by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.

This current display of the exhibit is sponsored by the Renville County Historical Society. If you have questions regarding the exhibit please contact Nicole at the Museum 507-697-6147.
