Battle of Birch Coulee Presentation and Tour by Jerry Weldy Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 at 6 PM
We will meet at the Battlefield site just north of Morton Junction, County Road 2 / County Road 18. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for the presentation, as there is limited seating on the picnic tables in the shelter. After the Q&A session, Jerry will give a walking tour around the Battlefield. MNHS installed benches along the path in 2024. Refreshments served at the site. Free Will Donation & Item for the Renville County Food Shelf. Refreshment Served! This is Jerry’s 3rd presentation at Birch Coulee. Each year, he adds new facts he finds during his winter research. Jerry also volunteers at the Brown County Historical Society and has a connection to the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 through the LaFramboise family. The Minnesota Historical Society replaced the old, worn, and faded interpretive panels at Birch Coulee in 2024 and added benches along the trail. Refreshments served at the site.
