Mike, and his wife Julie, live in a small farm house near the top of the tallest hill in Sherburne County. Mike is a Registered Nurse.  He also has two Bachelor of Science Degrees from the University of Wisconsin – both in Agriculture. Mike and Julie love to travel all over and visit new places. They have been to every one of the State Parks in Minnesota and wrote a book about that, entitled – Minnesota State Parks: A Camper’s Guide. The next book that Mike created was a book about the U.S./Dakota War of 1862. Mike’s parents grew up in Meeker and McLeod Counties, close to two very important spots that are part of the timeline of the Uprising. Mike spent about three years researching for his second book and that was published in 2012 – Heroes of the Uprising, Minnesota’s Dakota Uprising of 1862.  Mike’s third book was just published earlier this year.  The Life and Times of Clear Lake Township  is a historical record of a small town and township located on the banks of the Mississippi River, located about 15 miles southeast of St. Cloud. Mike has two more manuscripts on his desk top computer at home that he is still working on.  He enjoys hunting and fishing; but, he is ‘mad’ about history.  He loves to learn new facts and tidbits about things or events – like the ‘story behind the story’. He also greatly enjoys going around the state and giving lectures or discussions on Minnesota history.
