They Were Called State Schoolers presented by Anne Peterson, Orphanage Museum Manager. July 29, 2024 at 6 PM in the Heritage Building on the Museum Grounds (behind the church).
Between 1886 – 1945, there were 10635 children placed at the Minnesota State Public School for Dependent & Neglected Children in Owatonna, Minnesota. The program will include a film taken in 1930 that former State Schooler Harvey Ronglien narrates. The Orphanage Museum was created in 1992 to remember the State School children. Kids from all over Minnesota came to Owatonna, including from Renville County. The Steele County Historical Society operates the Minnesota State Public Orphanage Museum.
Free will donation and an item for the Renville County Food Shelf is admission. Refreshment served.
