Somewhere in
England,
My Dear Folks:
At last we have
reached land which many of us were looking for. We were on the water a few days
longer than most of them, the first five days the ocean was calm, after that it
began to roll. The boat at times sure was rocking some. At sleep we were jumped
around just like rocking a baby to sleep. We didn’t enjoy the ship ride very
much as many of us boys were sea sick, but there is nothing like getting used
to it. We were protected on the way over by many other ships.
We are now
camping in tents and the weather in very rainy here at this time of the year.
We are quite busy these days so you won’t hear from me very often. Don’t worry
for we are all in the game. They say that our boys are doing fine and are
making great headway.
We marched a
few minutes to see the town we are in. These buildings are all stone and brick
and many of them are built alike. There are many fine buildings, but give me
the U.S.A.
Today is
Sunday, but not like a Sabbath at home. Hoping you are all well, I remain,
Your son and
brother, Arthur Stucke
