Made International Red Cross tour to inspire WWI disabled veterans. He was the inspiration for Courage Center, advocates for people with disabilities. His wife, Jennie Dowling was a founder of Camp Courage. He fathered three daughters, danced and hunted big game. When he put on his “legs” each day, he also put on his smile.
