Word was received here on Monday evening; between seven and eight o’clock, that Helmet Thomas, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Thomas of this place was killed in action in France on September 25th. Deceased was born on Aug. 8, 1895 and was 23 years, 1 month and 17 days old when he was killed. Another goelden star has been added to the service flag of this village, and naother honored grave “somewhere in France” contains the remains of Helmet who died that “Liberty might not perish from the land.” May his grave ever be kept green and his memory ever be fresh in the minds of all loyal hearts, and a solace to the aching hearts of his parents that he died that his country might live.
