The remains of
Howard McBroom arrived from Camp Hancock, Ga., Friday night. They were
accompanied by Sgt. H. Hawlek of Cincinnati, from the camp. The funeral was
held Saturday forenoon and the interment was in Fairview cemetery near the
resting place of his mother. On Thursday afternoon at the service for his
mother, Rev. Henry Nobbs linked the two together in an eloquent discourse on
the sacrifice and patriotic service of mother and son. He also made a short
address at the grave Saturday. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
The pallbearers for Mrs. McBroom were: Henry Haen, Gus Steinhilber, John
Worden, Robert McKinley, Simon Otness, Tom Kelley. Those for Howard were; H.
Hawlek, H. Steinhiber, Fred Olson, J. R. Butters, M. L. Hassinger and Arthur
Wordes.
